Brhlovce School Transformation

The proposal for the transformation of the former Municipal Folk School in Brhlovce is primarily rooted in respect for the existing building, its history, scale and material character. The value of the school lies in its authenticity. It has not undergone any major alterations over the decades, and as a result, many of its original structures, materials and details have been preserved to this day. The proposal builds on this authenticity, seeking to bring it back to the fore through the building’s new use.

The former folk school is preserved almost entirely in its original state. The approach is based on minimal intervention, retaining the original spatial relationships, structures, materials and defining features. The proposed works are limited primarily to minor repairs, the refurbishment of original elements and the replacement of inappropriate later additions that have compromised the building’s original character.
